ANgus Gray piano performance grant

Angus Gray was a performer, vocalist, composer, producer and arranger. His piano, keyboard and synthesiser skills were highly sought after on the jazz, funk, R&B, soul and blues music scenes. He was described as a remarkable and sensitive musician, an icon, a leader and a mentor with a beautiful soul.

This grant has been created in Angus’s honour. It is opened annually in June. We accept applications from any pianist under the age of 25 years who is pursuing a career in performance and seeking financial assistance for an activity or purchase that will help in this pursuit.

Grants of up to $1000 are available.

Applicants must be in Australia.

The grant will remain open until our budget has been reached.

To apply, please prepare a document with the subheadings outlined below and email it to pianoproject.au@gmail.com with ‘grant application’ in the subject line. The subheadings are in bold, each of these must be included in the application. Our explanations are in italics, these explanations form our eligibility criteria.

2. Applicant
   Please provide the full name of the person making the application. Include an email address and phone number. If you are under the age of 18, please also provide the full name and contact details for a parent/guardian.

3. Application
   Please tell us about your hopes to pursue a career in performance as a pianist, including a summary of your training so far, why you love performance and where you hope to take it. Please describe the activity or purchase that you would like funded. The activity/purchase can be anything that assists you in your training and is associated with performance but must include a specific description including a quote or estimate for the cost.

4. Feedback
   We like to hear feedback about how our grants are used, how they’ve been helpful. Please confirm that you will be happy to provide us with this feedback and how you would do it. Also confirm that you would be happy for us to post these updates on our social media sites and our website.

5. Signature and date
   Please include the names and signature of the applicant. If you are under the age of 18, please include the name and signature of a parent/guardian.
